As the proud sponsor of the 3’rd International suPAR symposium celebrated in Copenhagen on Feb. 27-28, 2012, ViroGates wish to thank all participants for their contribution to securing a highly successful meeting.
The 1½ days at the Danish National Museum revealed high quality presentations with interesting and productive discussions subsequently.
There is an increasing interest in doing studies with the suPAR biomarker and initial studies have shown that there is a link between suPAR and:
1. The health status of otherwise healthy individuals - in short the Lifestyle impact
2. Early identification of potentially critical cases and increased risk of mortality within patients admitted to the General Ward or dismissed
3. Monitoring treatment efficacy for more effective intervention, diagnose, understanding of disease progression and prognosis
4. As a support for a discharge decision
Data further uncovering the utility and value of this was presented and debated during the 3rd International suPAR Symposium. In addition, new and ongoing studies within the general population suggests the usage of suPAR as an indicator for necessary Lifestyle changes.
Early identification of potentially critical cases of Sepsis – Triaging, was also discussed: It seems that suPAR could be the right marker to pre-select patients with more urgency.
Inflammation - Diagnosis, Disease Progression and Prognosis – suPAR is a strong biomarker in patients with multiple medical diseases and can potentially be used as a prognostic marker for kidney, liver and heart organ failures.
