suPARnostic® Measures suPAR

suPAR is a protein in the blood. If an individual’s suPARnostic® level is very high, there is an increased chance of negative outcome (e.g. mortality) if appropriate treatment is not administered at the earliest. Appropriate treatment should result in a lowered suPARnostic® level.

suPARnostic® as Marker for Immune Activation

In April 2006, the crystal structure of suPAR was published in Science. The three domain structure was shown to be able to differentially rotate around its main axis to accommodate a number of complex ligands.

Measuring & Understanding suPARnostic®

Our numerous research studies show that at suPARnostic® measurements between 0.1 to 4.0 nanograms per millilitre (ng/mL), a patient can be considered healthy, with no challenges to the immune system and no signs or symptoms of an opportunistic infection or inflammation.

suPAR in Clinical Settings

suPAR levels are thought to reflect the state of immune activation of the individual. This is substantiated by findings of increased suPAR levels in diseased individuals suffering from viral, bacterial or parasitical infections as well as autoimmune diseases and cancer.
